A. Jim Bartells and Joel Schaffer told me there was a need for volunteers.

Q. Where else have you volunteered?
A. Rest Haven Homes and Berean Baptist Church.

Q. What have been some of your most memorable moments so far?
A. It’s a little early for that since I just started, but I do enjoy watching the energy and excitement of the kids playing dodgeball.

Q. What are some ways that you’ve seen God move in your life?
A. God has worked to humble me as a person and see the needs of people around me.

Volunteer Highlight – Tony Terpstra

Tony Terpstra comes and volunteers his time with our Resurgence students every Tuesday. With two sons at home it’s not as if he needs to go find others to pour into, and yet he has been showing up faithfully for two years now. We sat down with Tony and asked him some questions.

Q. What are some things that you are passionate about?
A. Any seasonal outdoor activity. Hiking, camping, snowboarding, biking. Being a dad to my 2 young boys.

Q. Why did you choose to volunteer your time and energy at Bridge Street Ministries?
A. I wanted to invest my time serving the kingdom by serving the city I grew up outside of. And I wanted to get to know GR better. And I can tolerate middle schoolers.

Q. How did you find out about BSM?
A. My church supports BSM, and I grew up with Derek.

Q. Where else have you volunteered?
A. My church, Guiding Light, Various service projects.

Q. What have been some of your most memorable moments so far?
A. Playing dodgeball at Berean Baptist Church.

Q. What are some ways that you’ve seen God move in your life?
A. He’s been a firm foundation when my world was shaken. He’s been faithful to always provide “enough” for me and my family.

Q. What are some ways that you’ve seen God move in the lives of the youth who participate in BSM programs?
A. I often see kids respond positively to the encouragement and praise of BSM workers. They’re hungry for love and acceptance, and they get it here.
