Resurgence is a place-based after-school program designed to support the specific developmental needs of middle school students and address the unique challenges of urban youth.  With three Resurgence sites around the city, working directly with Grand Rapids Public Schools, Resurgence offers high-quality, Christ-centered after-school programming to over 300 under-resourced youth every year.  

Our Resurgence after-school program saw exponential growth in 2020 when we bought and renovated an old liquor store and adult novelties shop and turned it into a youth center.

That project led to an expansion of Resurgence and an invitation to launch a second Resurgence site on the Northside, serving students from Riverside Middle School. 

In 2024 we piloted our third site in Burton Heights, serving one of the most vibrant, yet disinvested, neighborhoods in Grand Rapids. The launch of this site was a significant step in our establishment of a city-wide, Christ-centered, youth empowerment movement.

Our Cultivate Thriving Capital Campaign is aimed at establishing a long-term presence in Burton Heights and increasing our capacity to catalyze a city-wide youth movement.
